Via Transilvanica, Bucovina, day 7: Dorna Candrenilor – Lunca Ilvei

A few stats: about 36 km, about 612 m elevation gain, about 11 hours with breaks (from Garmin data). We took the Lunca Ilvei stamp from La Avram.

This was the day with too little nature. We walked so much on asphalt that I just didn’t understand why I was doing this. This is not how I like to hike.

Two things happened on this day: we saw a funeral, and we saw boars.

A car was driving on the road and stopped when it saw us, to let us know that up ahead, in the direction we were headed, there were two mother boars with piglets, so to be careful. So the whistling began, along with shaking the bear bell and yelling, so the boars would know we were human. We saw the mother boars on the road, gave them time to decide which side they wanted to go to and get into the forest. We only saw the piglets running uphill into the forest.

We camped at La Avram, such a nice experience. We talked with him, had dinner and breakfast there; the scrambled eggs were so good, and we also got tea.
